week 9 news
Philomath pitcher Ryan Kildea warms up between innings at the playoff game on friday evening, at Philomath High School. The home team went on to beat Hidden Valley 9-8 after Kildea hit an over the fence home run in the bottom of the final inning. Philomath's next game, the state semi-final, is set to be played on June 1st.

Environmental Portrait
Keith McHenry came to LBCC last Wednesday to get the word out about Food Not Bombs, a group that provides vegetarian meals to people in need, as a protest to war and poverty. McHenry co-founded the organization 30 years ago and amidst much controversy it has grown into a global movement with over 1,000 chapters worldwide.

June Hemmingson (left) and and Laura LaFond (right) run the "Penny Poll," on Wednesday in the LBCC quad. The poll was designed to test what taxpayers think their money should go to. Each student was given 10 pennies and chose what projects they think should have the most funding by depositing them into their respective jars.
